The Poker Projects
Poker projects also known as “Draw” play a very important role in the strategy of poker, since with them we can plan our plays in advance and know if we have a high probability of remaining with the pot, or if, on the contrary, it is better to make the decision to retire to save chips.
Whatever we undertake in everyday life, it is always necessary to have a project or plan, and so does poker. From the first cards we receive in a poker hand we can deduce how far we can advance with them in that game; Or knowing what cards we need to complete our game with the help of missing or community cards in the case of Hold’em. A poker project begins the moment we receive our first letters; Called pocket cards, in Texas Hold’em (2 cards) and Omaha (4 cards), Stud and Razz are called the starting hand (3 cards).
There are different poker projects, some more ambitious than others. Below are examples of some common Draw projects in Hold’em, Omaha and Stud.
High Pair (AK) Project: This is an excellent project to get a high mate. If a king or ace arrives in the community cards, we can achieve a very powerful couple, who will give us the boat in most situations.
Trio Project (JJ): Although a pair is already a particular play, it can also be considered a trio project – as long as we are still waiting for news letter, whether personal or community. If we can connect an additional card with equal value than our partner, then we will achieve a trio project. This is a very powerful move in most cases, as long as none of our rivals manage to complete a long project, such as ladder or color.
Color Project (5, J): If we have two cards of the same color and we have more cards to receive, it is said that we have a color project. This is a long project type, since we will need to connect three additional cards that are of the same suit. If we achieve this, then we have made a color project and we are most likely to be the owners of the boat.
Ladder Project (7, 8): If we have two cards in consecutive order, it is very likely that we will achieve a ladder; then it is said that we have a project or Draw of ladder. This is also one of the longest and most ambitious poker projects since we will need three more cards to complete the sequence. In this case, we would have several options to get the ladder, because we could get (9, 10, J) (4, 5, 6) or (6, 9, 10) to complete the project.
Project of Full (8, 8, 8): If we achieve a trio, we already have a concrete play that is also very strong; however it would be even better if we achieved Full House. When we have a trio in our hands and we are still waiting for two cards or more, then we have a Draw or Full project. This is perhaps one of the greediest projects in poker, if we get it we will be absolute owners of the pot in 90% of cases, since a poker project is quite rare to get.
Low Hand Project (5, 2, A): This type of project can serve us Lo modalities, such as Razz and Omaha Hi / Lo – in this case the ace has value 1. Given the situation, if we achieve other Two low cards less than 8 and of different value to the previous ones, we will have great possibilities to take the boat or a part of him.
Often it is possible to win a hand and take the pot by short projects, such as a couple, a double pair or a trio. On the other hand, the longer projects are the most difficult to materialize. However, if we manage to complete a long project, such as ladder, color, full house or better still achieving Poker or “Quads”, we will be the owners of the boat almost certainly. Also, it is important to keep in mind that our projects may not always materialize, even when they show us the best expectations may fail. We must take into account this, to make the best decision at the right time, to withdraw and at least save a part of our chips, since later on we will be very useful in the game.
