How To Play Hold’em As Professionals
Professional players advise “avoid being a half player”. If you are the type of player who plays any hand that comes to him, just for testing if the game improves on community cards, then you are a “half player”. What professional players advice is to play only the best hands, a hand begins when we deal the first cards.
To determine which hand is good and which is not, we must rely on the first cards we receive; In the form of Hold’em we receive two cards at the beginning of the game, called “pocket cards”, in other modalities we can receive a greater number of initial cards. If in our pocket cards we have one or two high cards, pairs, color projects or ladder projects, we have a relatively good game and it is advisable to bet. If we do not have a good hand it is not advisable to bet, since we are much more likely that our chip stack goes down; It is very important to keep our stack of chips to use when it suits us best.
According to professional players, the best hands in a Hold’em game are:
High Pair: The bigger the pair we have on our pocket cards, the better chance we have of winning that poker hand, Ah Ad, Kd Ks, Qs Qc, Jc Js, 10h 10c, 9h 9s.
Two high cards: If we have two cards of high value in our hands, it is also a good chance to win and it is advisable to bet, for example. Ac Ks, Ac Qc, Kh Js, Ks Qc, Kd 10c, etc.
A high card: If you have a high card you have a good chance of winning, A, K, Q, J.
Two cards of the same color (color project): If our pocket cards are of the same suit, we can gather three more of the same suit to get color; if we succeed we can win the pot in most of the times. For ex. 7 K, 9 2, 8 Q.
Two consecutive cards (project of stairs): Although it is not so simple to obtain a ladder if we manage to form it is a sure way to win the hand, if we have in our hands two consecutive cards, it is easier to reach a ladder. For ex. 6 7, 89, 10 J.
Low pair: Although a low pair is not the strongest hands in poker, it could be taken as a good chance of winning the game and more if the trio is achieved in conjunction with the community cards.
The main advantage of this strategy used by professional players is to make the most of our chips in the game and minimize the risks. In addition, we can use our stack of chips at the right time to increase our points and strengthen us in the game.
